Michael Schloss has been appointed as the Acting Director and Deputy Director for Policy at the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). Prior to this role, Schloss had a distinguished 32-year tenure with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), where he most recently served as the Director of the Office of Field Administration. In this capacity, he oversaw multiple regional and district offices, ensuring compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).

Schloss’s appointment comes during a period of significant transition for the OFCCP. Following the recent revocation of Executive Order 11246 by President Trump, the agency’s focus has shifted exclusively to enforcing Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA). These statutes mandate that federal contractors ensure nondiscrimination and take affirmative action for individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

While Schloss does not have prior experience within the OFCCP, his extensive background in enforcement at the EBSA equips him with a robust understanding of labor compliance and regulatory frameworks. The federal contractor community is now looking to Schloss for guidance as the OFCCP navigates this evolving compliance landscape.
